Renew and Revise

As we approach the end of the year, it's time to evaluate the artistic direction of the Hanford Multicultural Theater Company for 2025. As our organization continues to grow, we are attracting a diverse range of artists. Our goal is to cultivate our theater in a way that enriches the experiences of all artist participants.

This coming year, we are excited to introduce a Story Slam. This activity is open to anyone who enjoys sharing stories. You’ve done this before. You have told stories to friends, family, or children. You can do it on our stage! We will announce a date soon. Each story will be limited to five minutes and must be true. The audience will vote for their favorite story, and a prize will be awarded to the winner, so start planning your tale!

We will also continue offering our acting classes. We've noticed that students who gain experience in stage acting often develop an interest in film acting as well. In response to this interest, we filmed a half-hour project this past year, titled "Top of the Morn’n Ta Ya," which we plan to premiere at the theater in 2025.

Additionally, we have a wonderful surprise: a documentary film made about our company! Stanley Abad William, a talented filmmaker and documentarian, will premiere the movie at our theater and at various film festivals. The film is titled "Brick by Brick: The Story of HMTC."

Looking ahead, we are launching a new puppet show and hope to train interested individuals to perform using our new puppets. This show will be called "The Bitter Couple."

In terms of theatrical productions, we have three new short plays scheduled for the upcoming year: "Clean," "Blind Quinceañera," and "Big Breasts." We are also considering a fourth short play, but we have not yet made arrangements with the playwright.

We have exciting plans for the new year at our location, 119 ½ N. Douty Street in Old Downtown Hanford. Be sure to subscribe to our website for the latest updates on HMTC. www.HanfordMTC.com
