Plays for our class actors

After an acting session at the theater, there has been significant learning on both sides. The student actors have developed valuable skills for performance, while on the teaching end, we recognize the students' potential and consider opportunities for them to perform.

We plan to produce "Blind Quinceañera" with students from our teen class. (A Quinceañera is similar to a Sweet 16 event.) This intriguing play tells the story of a girl who is about to select her dress when she receives a Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) diagnosis. This rare genetic disease causes the cells in the retina to deteriorate over time, leading to vision loss. RP is typically caused by genetic changes from parents to their children. The play is about how a young teen copes with the diagnosis at a critical time of her teen years.

In the adult class, we are exploring two short plays. Both are two-person plays that convey profound messages and subject matter. We are currently seeking rights from the authors before disclosing the titles. Four of our adult class acting students will perform in these plays if we obtain the rights.

In summary, we are a theater company focused on new plays with meaningful themes. We see this as part of our mission. It is a way to enrich our actors, playwrights, and the community.

We invite our community to participate in our theater’s mission. Learn now on our website at www.HanfordMTC.com
