Join us for a unique experience at our Hybrid Monologue Slam this Saturday, November 18 at 5pm at our new place on 119 ½ N. Douty. We are next door to ChiqBeauty Salon and across from Huggy’s. If you haven’t been there before, be prepared for an intimate theater space that will remind you of a North Hollywood, Chicago, or even a NYC theatrical space.
This Saturday, contestants will compete for $300 prize. To win it, they will do a monologue in front of five judges. After the judging, the top three will be awarded their cash prizes. We also have some contestants that will compete digitally. That is will the hybrid comes in. We will be live-streaming the entire event.
The objective is to choose the top three monologues from registered contestants. The winners will be included on our wall of slam fame. We have been doing this since 2018 and this will mark our 6th time holding the event.
Next year we intend to switch things up and do a Story Slam. We find this a great change and people can participate as a ‘storyteller’ contestant up until the day of the event. Cash prize will be given to the winner with the audience voting for the winner. We will keep you posted on this in 2024.
Here at Hanford Multicultural Theater Company, we relish people participating in our arts offering and stage experiences. We enjoy training people for improv and acting and giving confidence. Whether it is puppetry or acting, monologue or storytelling, we are here to offer those opportunities.
