Documentary on our Multicultural Theater

A documentary filmmaker, Stanley Abad Williams, approached the Hanford Multicultural Theater Company to create a documentary. He titled it "BRICK by BRICK."  The name coincides with the brick interior of the theater space we call Lil Brick. He is the director and producer and a proud Filipino-American. With the aid of cinematographer Maricela Mendez, who traveled up from Southern California with her assistant and a sound crew from Fresno, this exposure is a joy for HMTC. We hope the exposure can open doors with our commitment to community arts.

Janie Isidoro, one of the board members, was interviewed this past Saturday for the documentary. She has been an HMTC member since 2017 when the new nonprofit operated out of the West Wing at the Hanford Civic Auditorium. She and her family took classes with us. A long-time resident of Hanford, she remarked that HMTC in Hanford is a jewel. To get what HMTC offers is usually offered in big cities.

Don Brakeman was also interviewed. He is one of our acting coaches working in the entertainment business since 1960. His experience has been a great asset to the theater and the people of Hanford. Even today, past students request his coaching. Don is a working actor with a prominent agent.

It has been a long and hard road. Surprises keep us on our toes, and the request to do a documentary about us is a delightful surprise.

We asked Mr. Williams if we could screen the documentary at our theater so we could plan a gala event around it. Williams agreed and also will submit the documentary to other venues.
